It is an eye sore to look at a damaged car bumper. In most cases, they can be repaired or replaced entirely if you have the budget. Find out more about your options.

How Much Is Bumper Replacement?

The price of bumper replacement in the Philippines starts at Php 18,000 and above for an original component from the dealer (casa). This rate is based on an average sedan or sub compact type of vehicle.

For other kinds of vehicles, it may be higher or lower depending on the brand and model. Here are some of the estimated prices of original front bumpers that we have gathered:

  • Suzuki Ciaz: Php 16,000 to 18,000
  • Mtisubishi Mirage: Php 16,000
  • Toyota Vios: Php 17,000 to Php 19,000
  • Honda City: Php 19,000 to Php 21,000
  • Kia: Php 18,000 to Php 20,000
  • Suzuki Swift: Php 16,000 to Php 18,000
  • Toyota Altis: Php 19,000 to Php 23,000

Should I get an original accessory or part? There are many advantages of buying and installing an original product. You can be assured that it is authentic, it matches the actual color of your previous part and the durability is higher.

However, expect that such accessory is expensive if you wish to get it from the manufacturer.

Should I Repair It?

The decision to initially repair the bumper depends on whether you have the budget. Some people would say, “just leave it alone and let the damage pile up”. But for car owners who prioritize aesthetics, fixing the part right away is ideal.

Other Options

On the other hand, you can have the following options if budget is a concern:

  • OEM – may be cheaper than original, can have multiple brands per manufacturer
  • Surplurs – much cheaper but may not be compatible with your current unit, hard to find, available in most third party auto or repair shops
  • Repair – auto shops will try to bring back the original shape (possible only for mild dents) and paint color.

How much is the repair for damaged bumper? The service cost will depend on the type of damage. The following are the factors to consider:

  • Small and mild dent
  • Chipped off paint, scratch, fading
  • Total wreck damage (unusable)
  • Torn parts and cracks
  • Presence of other accessories like fog lamp, sensors

For mild concerns, the price of repair may start from Php 600 and above. Those that require patching, repainting and re-attachment may go as high as Php 3,000.

Insurance Coverage

Does my car insurance cover bumper repairs or replacement? If you have a car insurance with “own damage” coverage in the policy, you can have it replaced totally. The participation fee will be around Php 2,800 to Php 3,000 for sedan types.

How long will it take to finish the replacement? For the spare parts, the dealer will order from their distribution hub which may take up to 1 week. Installation will take another 1 day at least. You will receive a call when your car is ready for pick up.
