Driving School Tuition For Newbie Car Owners

Last Updated on August 31, 2024 by autopilipinas

You said to yourself, “Someday I’ll be able to drive that car too”. Well let’s make that someday become today by enrolling in a driving school. Find out how much the tuition is and for sure you’ll get excited to get your first lesson.

Fees

The price of driving school tuition in the Philippines starts at Php 1,000 to Php 8,000 depending on whether theoretical or practical driving is available.

  • Theoretical driving lesson price (TDC) – Php 1,000 and up
  • Practical driving lesson price (PDC) – Php 2,500 to Php 8,000

The license code (non-pro or professional license) and the type of vehicle (manual, automatic, 4 wheels, motorcycle, etc) will predict the actual rates.

3 Days Driving Course

The price of a 3-day driving course may start from Php 3,500 and above. This is a comprehensive course and you should attend all the days required for the lessons.

5 days Driving Course

A 5 day driving course rate may start from Php 4,000 and above.

10 days Driving Course

For those who are willing to take longer driving lessons, the 10 day course may start from Php 8,000.

8 hour driving lesson

The 8 hours driving lesson may be divided into 1 hour per day. You may ask the school whether you can adjust the number of hours into a more compact schedule for your convenience.

My personal choice was the 5-day course. I had two driving schools before and both of them offered this option. But the first one was way back at least 10 years ago so I’ve forgotten some crucial techniques, especially that I was driving a manual transmission car.

Do I Need To Enroll?

Millions of Filipinos probably have not enrolled in any driving school. They were taught either by their parents, relatives or friends. But the key advantage with driving centers is they provide scientific lessons and instructions.

I have to admit that my brother once taught me to drive in our subdivision but forgot all the instructions later on.

Age Requirements

Can I enroll in a driving course at my age? It does not matter how old you are. In fact, I’ve seen students considered as senior citizens. Most driving school students that I talked to were aged 18 years old and above.

Type of Car

It is up to you whether you want a manual or automatic car driving lesson. Personally, I would suggest that you avail of the manual type. When you were able to master the clutch, gas and brake combination, together with the right gear stick (kambyo), driving an automatic car in the future would be very easy.

Can I choose the schedule? Yes, I did not avail the straight 5 day lessons. Rather, I asked the instructor to make it Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. They are flexible to accommodate the student’s schedule.

Motorcycle Riding Lesson Price

The motorcycle riding lesson rates start at Php 2,500 in a standard school accredited by LTO. You may be asked whether you prefer to have a manual or automatic motorcycle.

Requirements

Simply proceed to the school of your choice and fill out the form. You will also be asked to provide an ID and pictures. Other documents may be required upon enrollment.

LTO Accredited Driving Schools

Before you enroll in a driving lesson course, make sure that you are dealing with an LTO accredited institution. This way, you will ensure that the lessons provided are at par with the requirements of the LTO.
