Shock Absorber Replacement

Last Updated on September 10, 2024 by autopilipinas

The labor price of replacing shock absorbers starts at Php 850 to Php 1,200 depending on auto shop rates.

I’ve seen at least two mechanics work together to replace them in a single car. So you can relate its price with the difficulty of the job. The cost does not include the actual spare parts but you can get a better deal with a package.

Prices of the Spare Part

Depending on your budget, replacing your shocks may have a different price based on your service request.

  • Front shock absorber – Php 2,600 to Php 5,020 a pair
  • Shock absorber for the back – Php 2,600 to Php 4,800 a pair
  • Labor cost – Php 850 and up depending on the number of parts for replacement

I always put in my post that the spare parts of the vehicles will vary in price depending on the brand. But hopefully this list will give you a better idea on how much to prepare.

What I Prefer

There are at least two types of shock absorbers for vehicles namely hydraulic and air (gas) types. Depending on your preference, both are good options. Some customers say that gas type gives a smoother ride but is more expensive.

Hydraulic on the other hand are cheaper but prone to leaks. Another configuration is the spring type shock absorber for various uses.

Before, my car had a hydraulic type and the mechanic was able to spot the leaks when I had my last PMS service. I replaced them with the gas type and my passengers usually compliment the smoother ride.

Don’t get me wrong but hydraulic and gas types are both good options. It’s just that I prefer the other just to test out.

In the Philippines, you can choose various shocks for your car model and make. You may inquire about the prices of popular shock absorber brands like KYB, Monroe and CCIYU. Just make sure that you check out whether the model is compatible with your vehicle.
